Which app fits you?

Okidoky next to the best-known alternatives, point by point. So you quickly see what fits you.

In short

Okidoky is built for your own household budget, mainly for Dutch users. Affordable (€1.50/mo or €25 one-off) and your data sits in Europe. Not for people who want to give every euro a strict job up front (YNAB is better for that).

Coming from Excel: almost always a step up. Coming from YNAB: only if you can do without that strict every-euro system. Just starting: a ledger with receipt scanning and sharing — that's what Okidoky is good at.

Decision guide

I currently use... which comparison is relevant?

Why we don't compare some apps

There are dozens of apps like this. We only compare the apps we've actually used ourselves.

  • We compare where users ACTUALLY come from

Excel and YNAB are the two tools we most often encounter in conversations. For other personal-finance apps: too niche, too local or out of scope.

  • Mint (Intuit) shut down in March 2024

The most-used free US budget app is gone. Users have scattered — some to Rocket Money, some to Copilot, many without alternative. Comparing with a dead app isn't helpful.

  • Spendee, Wallet, PocketGuard: volatile market

Apps with <5% market share in NL change quickly (features, price, ownership). Writing a comparison takes time that's outdated 6 months later. We focus on stable competitors.

FAQ

Frequently asked comparison questions

Isn't this comparison biased?

We're naturally not completely neutral — it's our own page. That's why we also name where Okidoky is weaker: no VAT returns, the mobile app is less polished than YNAB's, and we have a smaller group of users.

Are prices kept up-to-date?

We check prices 2× per year and on announced changes. Last check: April 23, 2026. Changes after that date aren't processed. For notable differences: send email with screenshot, we'll update it.

Can I also use multiple apps at the same time?

Keeping one app updated is already enough work. If you want to combine two tools, keep them mentally separated — and decide for yourself which is for what.

Still not convinced?

Try Okidoky 14 days free. No credit card, no auto-upgrade, no commitment. If after 2 weeks another app fits better, that's also valuable.
