01 · How it works

Done in 3 steps

01

Your own numbers as source

We only use transactions you've entered or imported. No comparison with other users, no averages from "people like you".

See where your year is heading — and where your savings could be in 6 months

Okidoky looks at your own income and spending and shows what will probably be left — per month and per year. Just calculated from your own numbers, nothing complicated.

What forecasts CANNOT do

Security
01

Unexpected events

A washing machine breaking, an illness, a job loss — these unexpected things can't be predicted from past patterns.

02

Behaviour that changes

Suddenly stop going out for dinner? Starting to save more? The forecast only adjusts after the change has been visible for a few weeks.

03

Too little data

With less than 30 days of transactions, forecasts are unreliable. Okidoky explicitly warns if there's too little data for meaningful predictions.

04

Seasonal factors

Christmas presents, vacation bookings, yearly insurance — these peak once a year. In the first 12 months Okidoky doesn't yet know which month has which fixed costs.

Frequently asked questions

Get in touch
How accurate are the forecasts?

The further ahead, the less certain. That is why the savings projection for the next 6 months shows three scenarios (conservative, realistic and optimistic) instead of one number. The year overview uses your fixed and recurring items; unexpected expenses are not in it. We don't publish accuracy percentages because we don't measure them systematically.

Do forecasts work in the free version?

No. Insights with the forecasts (year overview, savings projection and multi-year trend) is a Premium feature (€1.50/mo or €25 Lifetime). With a free account you do get your dashboard with the numbers for the current month.

Can I influence the forecast?

Yes. You can manually enter expected one-off expenses (vacation, repair) with a date, and Okidoky includes them. You can also "pause" recurring costs if you know they're not coming back (e.g. cancelled subscriptions).

Why do some charts say "insufficient data"?

For reliable trends Okidoky needs at least 30 days of transactions. For patterns across the year, at least 12 months. We'd rather show "not enough data yet" than a made-up number.

Are my numbers used to help others forecast?

No. We don't compare you with other people. Everyone gets forecasts based only on their own numbers. There is no system that learns from your numbers.
